Metatarsal presubluxation syndrome

I am a distance runner suffering from metatarsal pre-subluxation syndrome--does anyone have any suggestions for some therapy I can do at home in addition to my podiatist prescribed custom orthotics and not running and wearing a toe splint at night? I am hoping to stave off surgery.

Any help is appreciated!
