Therapy for broken wrist

I got my wrist of cast three weeks ago but wore a splint most of the time for the last 3 weeks due to a torn tendon for my thumb. Surgery scheduled for tendon transfer 3 weeks from now. I am now trying to get my wrist motion back before being re-immobolized again. Only suggestions from ortho was to use Chunky soup cans for curls. Any other ideas to get my wrist motion (bending) back to normal?
