skinny calves and ankles in children

My 9-year-old son has extremely thin lower legs and ankles. He is medium-tall for his age and none of the rest of him is exceptionally thin. His ankles and calves/lower legs look emaciated, and one of his feet seem a bit bowled inward when he walks. Is this sign of any disease?
