medial collateral ligament

Is it possible to sprain the medial collateral ligament from overuse such as prolonged hiking? I had never felt pain on the inner side of my knee until last week when I hiked for 4 1/2 hours straight.
I've been icing it and taking anti-inflamatories, and the pain seemed to subside, but when running last evening, the pain has returned.

Relieve painful kneeling strain. The Knee Saver is for workers or hobbyists who frequently kneel or squat. These people have ten times the normal risk of knee cartilage damage.
