chest physical therapy

Hi, I have been diagnosed with costochondritis and have had pain along my breastbone for 2 months. The doctor gave me NSAIDs but they did nothing and has now directed me to get physical therapy. I am 28, quit smoking 2 months ago when the pain began and have never had chest problems before. I have had ekgs, xray and blood test to rule out heart and lung problems, but sometimes have shortness of breath and lots of anxiety. What exactly will physical therapy help me with? thank you.
