therapy after a broken foot for a 57 year old

I have been healing a broken in my foot for 9 weeks, am 57 years old, have never been able to see an actual Doctor (only saw a P.A.), and have been told to continue wearing the camwalker until physical therapist tells me otherwise.

I am concerned about the lack of wisdom in the PA's RX...my ankle is swolen all day and even my toes are swolen/broke the bone that extends to the little toe about in the middle of my foot...what else should I be doing???

I am wearing some wierd shoe with a flat sole - told to do so for 15-20 minutes inside to transition out of the boot..........
