dislocated hip

My son, age 17, dislocated his hip on January 2nd doing a back flip while snow boarding. They did a closed reduction within 4 and a half hours. There are no floating bone chips. He's been on crutches. When is it safe to walk, weight bear, start PT. What PT should be prescribed. We're not scheduled to return to the doctor until February 11th. Shouldn't we be doing something before that?
