Distal Femur Fracture

On Thursday I had ACL reconstructive surgery, and on Friday the graft broke loose, resulting in a distal femur fracture. I am now put together with a 7-inch plate and screws. I am told that I will be non-weight bearing for 8 weeks. Has this happened to anyone else, and will recovery really be that slow?
