Thumb pain

I cannot find any article that describes the location of my thumb pain. I have waves of pain on the inside of the thumb starting from below the knuckle bend on the inside to above where your hands start. Does not hurt at all to grab, pinch etc. so don't think it is arthritis. Any ideas ? Idon't use a Blackberry etc, just a regular keyboard.
