Broken femur

My 50-year-old boyfriend broke his femur in a motorcycle accident last week. He also broke both hands. He is a self-employed concrete finisher and has no medical insurance. They put a rod and screws in his leg. They put a business card with his belongings from a hand and wrist microsurgeon but never said anything about surgery for the hands. He is not in any casts. They didn't say anything about physical therapy either. He's out of the hospital after a week and we don't know what to do next. Do we get him into physical therapy no matter what? Are there exercises he can do at home? How long will it take to heal? Will he ever be able to work again as a concrete finisher?

The Palumbo Patella Stabilizing Brace creates a dynamic, medially displacing force to the patella and allows functional activity while providing stability throughout the full range of knee motion.
