PT after fractured ankle

My daughter fractured her ankle in June of this year. She saw orthopedist and was in a cast for 5 weeks then a cam walker until now. At her appointment last week with orthopedic doctor, he said she was completely healed and could go back to activties full out with no restrictions-she is an athlete and does dance and track. He said she does not need PT, taping or a brace. She has been walking barefoot without the cam walker but not with a shoe. She limps and has pain but the doctor said the pain would be gone soon. Opinions from others include those who say we are crazy not to have her do PT. What do you think?
