knee/upper calf pain

For 10 weeks I have been having pain/discomfort behind my knee (soft tissue) and the upper calf. It has been tender to touch behind the knee and the upper calf feels "tight". I only have this discomfort after standing up after my knee has been bent or in a squat postion. After I walk a few steps, it goes away. I have tried rest, ice, naproxen. The degrees of discomfort vary from day to day. I have been to an orthopedic doc, he took an Xray, didn't feel an MRI was necessary at this time. He said the knee looked great, probably a little fluid behind the knee or a pulled muscle. He said to return gradually back to my regular activitie, running and biking. I felt like he blew me off a bit. It won't go away and today it was a little worse again. Any ideas to what it could be? No one seems to know what it could be. What about an MRI? should I insist on one? I appreciate your time.

The BioSkin Hinged Knee Skin is the lightest hinge available. The bicentric aluminum alloy hinge is offset to eliminate pressure at the joint line.
