Re: Broken Tibia and Fibula

I shattered both the Tibia and Fibula in the lower leg, in a car accident. The doctors are telling me that there is now bone loss and they might have to amputate my foot. The ankle was not shattered. Can they take a piece of my femur and graph it into my lower leg? Can they insert rods int the Tibia and fibula down into the ankle bone? Why would they tell me they might have to amputate?
