ACL repair & brace

I tore my ACL, MCL & both meniscus in 2005. Surgery to repair all but ACL. Recent pain. X-rays & MRI reveal right meniscus is re-torn. Preparing to schedule repiar of tear and ACL in near future. Q: should I try to strengthen the quad(right knee) prior to surgey? Possible patella graft.Q: What is the best type of brace/knee support can I purchase in the mean time? Instability is a problem; pain. Stability better w/brace but all the ones I currently use bind/bunch behind the knee. Thank you for your help.
