sprained/torn calf muscle

I just started working out one week ago. I pulled the calf muscle today in a workout. I can't even consider doing a workout (aerobic, step, dance etc) in this condition. Do you have advice on how this should be treated? My experience before tells me that it takes months to heal, & even after healing , it always seems weak. I've pulled it before, but this feels more like I wrenched it. I did not hear a pop or anything. It feels like a muscle really deep down in the calf. Please offer any advise you can.
Thank you. Flinn
