Ice Question

My daughter is a fastpitch softball pitcher at a major university. As is typical of the sport, she oftens pitches more than one game in a day, and often pitches two or three days in a row.

The fine trainers at the school refuse to apply ice to her shoulder and arm following a game or intense practice, explaining that her body will "get used to it" and it will be ineffective when she really needs ice if she gets injured.

P.T.'s in Florida she saw previously took the opposite view, stressing that she should ice her shoulder/arm after every game to discourage swelling inflammation.

My question: should she ice after a game or practice, or is the ice unnecessary? The ice seemed to help her
recover and avoid long term soreness. What do you think, should she ice or not??
Thanks
