siatic nerve

In 1989 I was lifting with a second person to transfer a patient to a chair, I lifted she didn't. Now in 2004 I was diagnosed with DDD at L-4and L-5, and bulge at the L-5 and S-1. Had surgery at those sight there was a cage put in. 2005 and I am still having sever back pain right sensoredocks pain, and radiates down the right leg. Leg swells at times. The only thing that helps is to put it up while laying down. Over the course of these years I have had P.T. which consisted of traction and cold packs and message, manipulation and acupuncture from a Chiropractor, along with tens units and medications out the wazoo. I recently went to an Orthopedic and he said that PT would cure my problem. How is it going to help when it hasn't helped before?
