knee pain

My knees starting aching several months ago and was just given the diagnosis today of "quadricep tendonitis" from a knee spesensoredt. I'm a 50 yr old male who has been running and playing soccer for 30 years plus but never had knee problems before. The knees are sore when I run but probably more annoying is the sharp aching I feel when sitting for extended periods, including while driving. Any suggestions as to treating and recovering from this? Thanks!
