Meniscus tear and doing gymnastics... is that ok?

I am 16 years old and about a year ago I was told, after an MRI, that I had a meniscal tear on my left knee. I was supposed to go through physical therepy, but never went. My knee still hurts at times, so I'm guessing the tear didn't heal. I am now taking gymnastics in school and I am scared that doing all the stretches will result in worsening the condition of my knee. Is it OK to do gymnastics with a meniscus tear? Should I be worried?
