broken fibula now knot on tibia ...painful

I broke my fibula last July, was not properly diagnosed and walked on it for 6 weeks, finally MRI showed break in fib. was on crutches and boot for 6 weeks, they told me no pins needed but was a "step-down" heal????? I have since accumulated a lump in my tibia directly across from where I broke my leg, which is flesh tone in color with purple around it. It is quite painful. I went to the ER for Xray, the nurse thought it might be an in-grown hair....as if.. I don't know if I should see my ortho again as they messed up the first time not seeing the break...any idea on what this lump is, it has been here for 2 months?????????????/
thanks for your time,
jcordell
