Hi all of you on this mail list. I had a simple fall over a low wall and heard a 'crack' from my foot. Initial xrays didn't show up the break, so I had the foot immobilised and was treated with physio for torn ligaments. After 6 weeks it didn't get better so went to an orthopod. He diagnosed a Liz Frank and confirmed that Liz Franks often don't show up unless you xray under load.
Anyway 8 weeks back I had surgery. 3 screws, with the main big toe joint permanently immobilised. Lots of stabbing from inside the foot, and lots of nerve pain on the surface of the foot. Not too bad. Have had 8 weeks in a moonboot with crutches and with no weight on the foot, and have now been given an insert to support the arch (inside the moonboot). With physio and exercises now beginning, they are letting me start taking weight, using crutches still. After another 4 weeks hopefully I will be able to wear a shoe, tho still with an arch support.
So from the time of the op its looking like 3 months to start walking without a moon boot, and another month or two to come right. My team says Liz Frank is a 6 month affair. I think they are right!
Good luck all of you .John
