hairline fracture lower end of radius

I fractured my right wrist snowboarding in January, and yes, it did swell much, but I had to be in a sling for a week to make the swelling reduce significantly. They put me in a Short-arm cast for about 4 weeks, though, beacuse I had a hairline fracture on my wrist. But it surprised me that you had to have an entire arm-length cast? That was my procedure, so if the cast you have is really bothering you, confront your orthopaedic surgeon, or whoever you're seeing, and ask if it is possible to reduce your cast size. And also, it felt SO weird when I got my cast off, the weirdest feeling ever! It's all like oily and small; you'll have fun for the few minutes you're 'cast-less'
Hope this helps!
