Re: Ankle fusion

My name is Dee. I also have had a severe break of the talus. (2005) I had surgery to repair the breaks (hardware). After long and painful months of therapy I was unable to weight bear for apporx. 6 months. I am still not fully weight bearing because of the pain, are you? I never did or have regained any dorsi or plantar flexion. I like you am in constant pain. The spesensoredt have also mentioned the F word (fusion). I would be curious to know if you had heard any good things that have resulted from ankle fusions. I have heard more negatives than positives.
I live on a farm and also have two children. We lead a very active life with sports and such. It is depressing for me to watch life go by and not be an active part of it. How are you coping? 8 years is a very long time to be in pain. I hope that you are rid of pain soon. Please let me know if and when you will be fusing your ankle.

I truly do feel for you and your family. I do understand the frustrations.

I live in Alberta, Canada. I am hoping that the U.S.A. has more medical advice. Here in Canada they say there in nothng more they can do!
