It happens to me also. And to my mother. And her mother before she passed away. An awful itch behind our upper arms, associated with no rash. Suddenly appears waking me up at night, stings so badly that pinching my skin to make the pain feel better ( pain which feels internal or underneath the skin) "freezes" the painful sensation. Ice helps also, and Benadryl spray. It has happened for a couple of years, but only a couple of times a year. Appears seasonal, not related to sun. Maybe to stress. wonder if it is allergies sometimes. Cannot offer a reason, just support to those that think they are crazy. You are not. I feel your pain.
