dislocated shoulder

My son (17) dislocated his shoulder. He went to the emergency room to have it set. He is already under the care of a chiropractor for knee problems. He is going about 3 times a week. My question is: Should he go to an orthopedic for follow up as the emergency room doctor said or can he just have the chiropractor look at it when he goes for his knee therapy?
