My spine touches the ground when I do sit ups!

Help! Whenever I do a sit up or a leg lift on hard ground, my spine touches the ground. Doing sit ups on a carpet or mat doesn't hurt, though. Is there any way I can fix my spine because I have to do sit ups at PE on the floor.
