si joint pain

I've seen a physical therapist for 20 visits starting in march 2007 she recommended prolotherapy and I had 8 injections. They have totally stabalized the joint and they don't set it anymore or just slightly, but i still have the pain.My therapist thinks I've done permanent damage and am at the best I can expect. The prolotherapy doctor keeps telling me one more shot, one more shot and is very confident that my pain will go away once he stabalizes the joint, but that isn't the case, the joints been stabalized for awhile now.Am i at the best i can expect, the shots cost 100 dollars each and my insurance doesn't cover them,or is there something else i can try.
