Pain Relief from Extra Vertebra

I have an extra lumbar vertebra that occasionally causes me pain. I only experience the pain when I am exercising too strenuously, specifically running or twisting exercises. I would like to continue my running regime, but my back has really been flaring up lately. My chiropractor has told me in the past that the pain is caused from the fully developed extra vertebra pinching a nerve and causing muscle spasms. Are there any recommended stretches that can eliminate the pain? I would really like to continue running without pain afterwards.
