I think the doc has good intentions but is selling all the bells and whistles to you which aren't probably needed. As far as curve correction, that all depends on age and also the condition of the spine (degenerative arthritis). Honestly, very seldom are curves in the neck restored to normal. Don't get me wrong, sometimes yes but not very often. What is more important is restoring function to the spine. This typically will take care of the symptoms you are experiencing. The goal is to keep the spine mobile. Orthotics aren't going to fix the curve in your neck, I don't see the need for them. Have your symptoms improved at all?
