mild disc desiccation

on my mri's it says c5-c7 mild disc desiccation and i am wondering what does that mean? i have occipital neuralgia and itcauses great pain 24/7. this was diagnosed with my neurologist and i received a steriod shot in my neck to help with the pain and it doesnt work,i originally went to him for my arm and hand pain and he ruled out carpel tunnel and ulnar neropathy but i have the symptons of it and he said theres nothing he can find wrong so i had to get referred to a orthopedic surgeon and i am wating to see him and i was reading my mri results and am wondering what that means(mld disc desiccation). can you help??
