Chest Locking Up Sometimes

In 2008 one of my friends held my arm to long while they were walking the opposite way that I was. After that I had a pain in my chest like something was burning in my chest. After that day I have been getting some chest lock ups. At first it was okay, but then it started hurting sometimes. I try to catch it before it starts to get to that point by laying down on my back or stomach, but sometimes it happens in places where I cannot do that and I been forward while keeping my legs straight. Sometimes that doesn't help and it leaves a small distracting throb of pain (like a heart beat rhythm). I asked my doctor one day and she said she didn't know what it could be (she never heard anything like that). Is this some type of dangerous thing or is it not common? I would really like to know something and going to the doctor right now is impossible since you need transportation and money to get the problem checked.
