Leg pain

I have spindlylosis and my L 5 disc (which according to my specialist, the cartilage has wrapped around the nerve and is squeezing a nerve that runs down my right leg, causing pain in my buttocks , hip and lower calf. I have had steroids shot that gave me short term relief ( about 3 or 4 weeks). Now my pain is back to where I can only walk for about 10 minutes until the pain is too unbearable. My orthopedic Doctor says I should have the operation for full relief.
Would seeing a Chiropractor cure this , or is it too late for Chiropractic car?....thanks
