Lower Back Pain

I Freequently lift waights and a few months ago i started having lower back pain. It got to the point where it was getting to the severe level. I went to my familly doctor and after a few x-rays he diagnosed me with an L1 facet displacement. I saw it on the x-ray and there was a gap of about 1/2 and inch circled with a pen indicating the discplacement. He told me not to have surgery just therapy. I would like to know how sever is this and what my options are. Can it be poped back into place?
