Dear Nicole,

The cracking sound is likely caused due to a old injury that has caused a spinal misalignment. The misalignment causes tension and when you move the tension is temporally released (causing the cracking sound).
You should be checked by a chiropractor for spinal misalignment's. This cracking sound could indicate a problem that exists and may worsen over the years.
