pain in different areas of the back

I have never had a back pain in my life until about 6 months ago. The pain flew into my back under my right shoulder blade out of nowhere and the spasms were horrible. I had trouble taking deep breaths and it felt locked. After about 3 days all was well and I basically forgot about it. 3 months later, the same thing happened under my left shoulder blade and I ended up in the ER. They gave me a shot for pain and muscle relaxers. No xrays, said it was in the muscles. Again 3 days later all was well. It has been about 2-3 months, and this time it hit my lower back right in the middle. No spasms though. It has been 8 days and the pain has not left and has lowered into the right side and down towards my leg. Im scared because like I said, I had a perfect back up until about 6 months ago. Can you help?
